Ole Hope New NHH Director
The NHH board has employed Ole Hope (47) as the new Managing Director of NHH.
16.06.2010 - Asle Haukaas
Ole Hope has broad leadership experience from the business world. He recently qualified for a PhD in management strategies at NHH. He leaves a position as Director of Organization and Strategy at Hansa Borg Breweries.
Hope is engaged for a fixed term of six years.
"We have had a thorough and solid process, and I am confident that we have found the right director for NHH for the coming years," Rector Jan I. Haaland says to Paraplyen.
Looking forward to the job
"I have a strong desire to work at NHH and thus contribute to the development of the institution. To me, NHH is an organisation that contributes to reflection and reaction in the best interest of the society that we live in, says Hope.
He knows NHH well after receiving his PhD there 3 May 2010, at the Department of strategy and management. It was after completing a Mastra Executive MBA at NHH in 2003 that he was spurred on to continue as a PhD student.
Now, he chooses to return to the administrative path instead of staying on as an academician.
"I think it is as an administrator I have the largest potential to make a difference. Some of us are researchers, others have their talents as administrators and facilitators, and I believe I'm more the latter than the former, and thus that my resources are best spent as an administrator," he explains.
Meet him at the summer party
Employees going to NHH's summer party this afternoon (Wednesday 16 June) can meet the coming director there.
He grew up in Bergen, and graduated from the Royal Norwegian Naval Academy in 1986.
He has been director of the theater Den National Scene in Bergen, the Grieghall, and has held different director positions in the Insurance company TrygVesta.
After four years as a PhD student at NHH, I have grown fond of the institution and many of the people here, and I feel a strong bond to NHH. I very much look forward to the challenging job as director and to meet many new colleagues, says Ole Hope.
He will start as the new Managing Director when the current director, Ragnar Fagereng, finishes his second fixed term 16 September.
